We always talk about Diocesan Convention, but what happens at Diocesan Convention?
Diocesan Convention meets once a year to discuss the church year going forward, elect people for various positions, and hear from people of all walks of life.
There are some pieces we approve and vote on, including the budget for the year and different resolutions from General Convention. We also elect people for different positions in our Diocese and for Sewanee- The University of The South.
Not only do we get to hear from the Bishop and Diocesan staff, but we also get to hear from the clergy and parishioners spread across the Diocese. All delegates are assigned to a table, and there are table discussions throughout the day. Everyone gets an opportunity to be heard.
The 44th Annual Diocesan Convention will be held February 24 and 25.
