The Eastertide Period

by Thomas Stodghill, IV on April 13, 2023

"Alleluia, Christ is risen! The Lord is risen indeed, Alleluia."

Our Easter acclamation begins a new season in our Church. Eastertide is the period from Easter Sunday until Pentecost.

We begin our journey by remembering that Jesus conquered death by being resurrected after his crucifixion. He first appears to Mary Magdalene, who tells her to inform the other disciples that she has seen the Lord. Accounts of Jesus' resurrection can be found in all four Gospels.

Jesus later appears to the disciples, including the Doubting Thomas. 40 Days after Jesus is resurrected, he ascends to Heaven.

10 Days after Jesus' ascension, we celebrate Pentecost Sunday. This commemorates the Holy Spirit descending on the Apostles and other followers of Jesus.

Happy Eastertide. Join us during this joyous season in our church.
