Meet Our Missioner For Racial Reconciliation

May 03, 2023

The Rev. Deacon John Henson is the Missioner for Racial Reconciliation in our Diocese. He is currently a transitional deacon and, God Willing, will be ordained to the Priesthood on May 17. He also serves on the Diocesan Beloved Community Commission.

He is the founding pastor of Church for The Highlands in Shreveport. Prior to that, he served as Pastor at several churches in Texas, two of which he started.

John and his wife, Ginny, have been married for nearly 30 years. They had two children, Maggie Lee and Jack. They celebrate the memory of Maggie Lee through Maggie Lee for Good, a movement of doing good for others and beyond on October 29 each year.

John is an enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, a federally recognized Native American tribe located in Oklahoma. The Potawatomi originally lived in the Great Lakes region of North America, including parts of what is now the United States and Canada.
